Peace. Connection. Awe.

The gifts of Nooishof.

A retreat from all the clamour, into one of the most ancient and extraordinary sanctuaries in Africa. Nature as artist, sculpting with wind and water and sun over millennia. Dwarfed by the scale of space and time, you gain a new perspective. A reverence for the ingenuity of life – from lichen to lizard, quiver tree to oryx, each uniquely adapted to an intensely mineral world. A sense of gratitude, to have lived long enough, travelled far enough. To have experienced a place like Nooishof.

Marc & Mariza Pampe Nooishof

“As a young child I spent my happiest holidays on neighbouring farms. It was always my dream to move here, to live surrounded by these beautiful landscapes. When the opportunity arose we sold Mushara, the Etosha lodges Mariza and I built and ran for 26 years, and finally moved south. Our lovely gardener Matheus, now retired, always referred to Mariza as “nooi” [young lady], regardless of the advancing years! Together we created Nooishof with a great deal of love. This is not for us just a hospitality project. We want to share our joy to be here in a way that is relaxed, unobtrusive and restorative.”

Nooishof Farmhouse

Wedged between the great Namib Sand Sea to the west and the rugged Tiras Mountains to the southeast is an exclusive oasis within the vast 25 000-ha Sinclair Nature Reserve.

Welcome to Nooishof

Sleeping a maximum of eight in private suites, guests enjoy shared access to the Ouma House – located separately, this spacious and well-equipped farm house makes the experience homely.

A small professional complement of staff is on hand to assist with any request – aside from Marc and Mariza, Nakale, Aina and Maria offer a cumulative 70 years in hospitality. But the intention is to create an atmosphere of peace and privacy, of ease and comfort, without the constant presence of waitstaff hovering and bothering.

Mariza Pampe Food

“We don’t do fine dining, or a marathon menu. We serve farm style meals that are simple, wholesome, unfussy. Prepared from scratch, with fresh ingredients mostly grown in our kitchen garden. Leaning towards the light and healthy, served to suit your appetite, your taste, and your time frame.”

Nooishof Library
Guests are encouraged to help themselves to whatever is in the fridge, put on the kettle, choose a book from the library and curl up into one of several nooks with a book, use the binoculars and go birdwatching, or just gaze at the changing abstract artwork that is the surrounding desert.
